Reaching Africa is a ministry that has reached out to bring relief to the people of Eastern Kenya by taking corn to feed several hundred villagers. It is possible to purchase 200 lbs. of corn for only $40 (US) which will feed a family of 5 for one week. In 2009 we were able to reach several remote villages in the bush regions around Bamba, however the need is so great we ran out of corn long before we ran out of hungry villagers. We plan to continue this work and would like to expand the program to provide medical supplies as well as food. It is also our desire to expand our efforts into other countries such as Uganda and Tanzania. There is a great need in the continent of Africa because of wars, plagues, drought and poverty that leave children without their parents and many families without homes and jobs. The famine has been severe for 3 or 4 years due to the drought in Eastern Kenya. When rain does come it will take some time for the ground to become farm able and productive once again. The primary source of income in the regions we are targeting is farming.
In March of 2010 we sent a ministry team of 18 to Kenya once again. We raised over $7000.00 in order to purchase corn in Kenya as well as medical supplies which will be purchased here and carried over by the team. We have found a company who sells many items which can be used for Reaching Africa at minimal cost. Disposable lab gowns, gloves, an assortment of adhesive bandages, and thermometers have already been purchased through this program. It is our plan to take a medical team with us into the bush regions as there are essentially no medical provisions for these villagers.
We have gotten involved in something that will help provide a living for Pastor's and their congregations as well as feed families. We can purchase goats for $40.00 each and begin to raise them for resale or food. As I spoke to my host in Kenya he told me he started this in 2 areas called Bali and Rhoka which has 4 Pastor's that are preaching in churches in these bush villages and are able to continue to work the ministry and provide for their families by raising goats. We are going to purchase 10 goats to begin this ministry in Bamba which is one of the most hard hit areas with famine. Please be a supporter!

There are no administrative fees and every penny of your contribution is used to Reach Africa with the love of God. Lighthouse Foursquare Church has a volunteer staff to implement this program and the ministry team raises their own funds for travel and accommodations while in Kenya. Our church also absorbs any miscellaneous costs incurred for this project.
